Athletics National Championship (PHASE1)This Saturday the 2nd April, 2011 NPC Rwanda organised for the first time the national championship in Athletics. NPC Rwanda has a plan to have every 3 months such competition so that the athletes may achieve the National Minimum Qualification Standards. Once the athlete achieve that NMQS will be automaticly in Athletics National Team. The athletes in national team will benefit more trainings and individual support which will help them to increase their level. In addition to that, they will be preparing for Regional, Continental and International Competitions in Athletics where they will achieve the international level (Professionals). This National Program will increase the number of athletes with disabilities in Rwanda, more than 12 coaches will be trained, more Athletics Clubs will be created. This is the START POINT!!!Today, 23 athletes and 7 Guides participated in Athletics National Championship phase 1. on the list of events were: 100m, 200, 1500m Men and Women. The disability categories were physical and vision impaired. "It is the first time the national championship be organised, reason why we didn't planed many events" Said by Eric KARASIRA the NPC Rwanda Technical Director.
